Medicare Advantage is at a critical crossroads. Over the past four years, Congress has enacted nearly $30 billion dollars in funding cuts to the Medicare Advantage program and now some in Congress are considering cuts of over $175 billion more to help fund other healthcare priorities. Such staggering reductions in Medicare Advantage funding would significantly increase beneficiary cost-sharing, reduce benefits and limit private plan choices. Please urge your members of Congress to maintain funding for the Medicare Advantage program. Prior to enactment of the Medicare Modernization Act (MMA) in 2003, inadequate funding forced over half of the Medicare Advantage plans to withdraw from the program, affecting millions of beneficiaries. Now, due to the reforms enacted in the MMA, the number of health plans participating in the Medicare program has nearly tripled giving more beneficiaries health plan options than ever before. Every Medicare beneficiary now has access to one or more health plan option. With your help, Congress can save our choice and protect this critical health care safety net. Please join us in calling on Congress to preserve beneficiary access to the Medicare Advantage program and the comprehensive, coordinated care it delivers. Help Protect Your Advantage Today. Contact your lawmaker and ask them to take immediate action and protect Medicare Advantage program funding.
